Article: J.Cole Predicted To Sell Over 240k In The First Week.

Sources first told us Cole World was already projected to sell over 100K after 24 hours but now Billboard is throwing an even bigger number out there for the album’s first week sales. Industry prognosticators predict J. Cole’s debut album could push from 240k – 250k by the end of the week.

Sure, Kanye and Jay did 436,078 their first week but this is mighty impressive if it holds true. Cole is on pace to become the first solo artist’s debut to hit number one, since May 2o10. Bobby Ray did it then with The Adventures of Bobby Ray, which sold about 86k.

ARTICLES: J.Cole Clears Statements On Hov Saying His Album Is A Classic.

J. Cole explains why he was disappointed after finding out Jay-Z didn’t actually tell a publication that Cole’s debut album was a classic and explain’s the story’s origin.

Recently, a headline in several articles in many different publications noted that Jay-Z declared J. Cole’s debut album a classic. When J. Cole was asked about this during a recent interview with AllHipHop, he responded by sharing his disappointment after reading the article and seeing that Jay-Z never actually told a publication that. Instead, the story came from Cole’s statements about what he’s heard from others about Jay-Z’s reaction to the album. He clarified the misunderstanding.

“When I saw the headline, I got happy. I was like, ‘Jay said my album’s a classic!’ And then I read it and it was like, (hits forehead with his palm).”

He went on to explain where the story came from.

“The story comes from me telling someone what I was told about what [Jay-Z] said. You know what I’m saying? It’s not like he did an interview and said it. But if you ask him, I’m sure he’ll probably tell you the same thing. But, it was so weird to see that headline.”

When asked how he felt when he initially read the headlines, he said he felt proud.

“When I heard that, I got really proud. It was cool. Imagine, it’s that nod of approval or that confirmation.”

The J. Cole/Jay-Z dynamic has been a topic of other discussions of late. The Jay-Z verse is also something J. Cole is waiting on, as he told HipHopDX’s own, Kathy Iandoli in a recent interview with DX.

“Your guess is as good as mine if we’re gonna get a Jay-Z verse,” he told DX.
